County Kildare Orchestra

County Kildare Orchestra

About Us

CKO was founded in 1998 by Berna Hayden and has been under the baton of Ite O’Donovan since 1999. Ite is currently on sabatical so we welcome Lorcan Daly as our current conductor. Since our inception we have built up a rich repertoire ranging from Bach to Sibelius and beyond.

The orchestra’s mission statement reflects our community spirit - to play the greatest music to the widest audience. We value team work, professionalism, value for our audience and we take personal pride in our work.

The Orchestra is managed by a committee made up of players and an Orchestra Manager and Secretary. The Orchestra Committee works on behalf of the Orchestra to organise events, concerts, rehearsals, refreshments, tutorials, music, procedures, accounts, communications, website and Facebook marketing, administration and all other tasks associated with running an orchestra. The committee is entirely voluntary.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination
and life to everything.” Plato
